The charming town of Force

Are you staying the the province of Ascoli Piceno in Le Marche and looking for things to do or a daytrip? Then this blog from Miranda, the owner of Casa ROOS, about the lovely town of Force is definitely worth a read. In this blog Miranda tells you all about the town of Force and its sorroundings.

The charming town of Force

I would love to tell you about our charming town of Force in the province of Ascoli Piceno.

Force is small and still relatively unknown, but that is exactly what makes it a hidden gem away from the hustle and bustle. The intimate atmosphere, the peace and the simplicity of life can be found in Force. It is a place where you are greeted by friendly locals and where traditions are kept alive.

I love wandering through the old part of the town. The small streets, beautiful historic buildings, the old, abandoned (unfortunately) shop windows, the surprising views and the panoramic vistas on all sides. The local bar serves as a communal hub, a place where generations converge over steaming cups of coffee or chilled glasses of beer.

But also in the very small supermarket there is a coming and going of villagers. It’s a place where a simple errand turns into an impromptu social gathering, and where the checkout offers not just goods, but also breathtaking views that stretch to the sea on clear days.

When I drive up from the Aso valley I enjoy all the views, the villages of Monteparo, Santa Vittoria in Matenano and Montefalcone on the tops of the mountains, the enormous Sibillini mountains, the vineyards, fields full of sunflowers and of course the olive trees. This never gets boring.

Festivals

Force’s calendar is a colorful tapestry of festivals, especially in summer. The “Antichi Sapori” festival, held in the second week of August, is the crown jewel. During this celebration of old flavors, the village transforms into a vibrant stage for culinary delights, street theater and music. It’s a grand reunion, a time when families and friends, both local and returning, come together to revel in the joy of shared heritage and create new memories.

Architecture

In the middle of Force there is a very special building. “The Villino Verrucci”, a villa in Liberty, Art Nouveau style. It was designed by the famous architect Ernesto Verrucci. This building is a copy of the royal palace in Alexandria that he designed. He can even call himself court architect of the Egyptian king Fuad. This famous fellow villager was born in 1874 and buried in 1945 (also in Force). There is now a special exhibition about his life in the museum of Force.

Rame di Force

Force had a long tradition of copper working. The copper can still be seen in many places. The copper museum is open on special days or just ask at Trattoria La Vecchia Posta.

Quinzano

I also like to go to the small borgo Quinzano, which is part of Force. Time has stood still there. On the “balcony” a great panoramic view over the Sibilline mountains, all the peaks can be seen. Watching the sunset in peace on a bench is beautiful. The single resident of this borgo loves to tell you about the nature around Quinzano.

Around Force

The area surrounding Force is very diverse. From the rolling hills and medieval towns like Sarnano, Montedinove, and Montefiore, to the majestic peaks accessible from Montemonaco and Montefortino, there’s an adventure for every spirit. Ascoli Piceno, with its renaissance squares and historical charm, is a must-visit, offering a glimpse into Italy’s storied past. For those drawn to the allure of the sea, the Adriatic coast beckons with its pristine beaches and vibrant towns like Grottammare, Cupra Marittima, and San Benedetto del Tronto. Whether it’s indulging in the local gastronomy, like truffle hunting and wine tasting, or simply meandering through the scenic routes that crisscross this enchanting area, the experiences here are as diverse as they are unforgettable.

I am so glad that we discovered Force, because I have fallen in love with this wonderful place!
