Biological agriturismo with restaurant in the beautiful countryside of Le Marche

Borgo Fosse is a beautiful biological agriturismo with its own restaurant in Le Marche. It is located deep in the heart of the Monti Azzurri district of Le Marche, just 1km from the village of Penna San Giovanni and half-way between the Sibillini Mountains and the Adriatic Sea. It has an organic farm and is surrounded by 20 hectares of land in a green and tranquil valley. You can capture the mood of the countryside by exploring this area: follow the tracks and paths through woods and across the meadows that contain our organic vineyards, orchards and olive groves.

Borgo Fosse is made up of Il Borgo and La Villa. The old Borgo and the Villa were completely restored in 2005 and opened as an agriturismo in order for the owners to share their passion for nature and the land with their guests and to offer them a unique country experience. Il Borgo consists of a cottage, two apartments, and a B&B room from the 19th century, with a swimming pool, park, woods and barbecue area. La Villa is an old manor house, renovated in 2005, that consists of 5 apartments with a swimming pool, car park, park, woods and barbecue area.

Overall on the estate there are woods, parkland, two swimming pools, parking, laundry services and a BBQ on request. There is also a restaurant that specialises in traditional Marchigiani cuisine, and uses only the finest home-grown, seasonal, and organic produce. Vegetables and bruschette are dressed with their own extra virgin olive oil. Salami, cheeses and home-made jams form part of the mouth-watering antipasto. Their pasta is home-made using traditional recipes. Traditional Marchigiani main courses are based around meats, grilled over an open fire. The essence of the cuisine is simple: first class ingredients, perfectly cooked, with all the lamb, chicken, pork and rabbit, home-reared! Wash it all down with their red and white wines and finish off with a coffee and a shot of their own Mistrà. During the high season every week a BBQ evening is organised for the guests in the park, as well as a pizza evening (you can prepare pizza in a traditional wood burning oven!).

Il Borgo

Il Borgo is made up of a cottage, two apartments, and a B&B room. Each accommodation, recently and carefully renovated with period materials, is equipped with a fireplace, veranda and all the services and comforts needed to spend a quiet and relaxing holiday. Each accommodation has been assigned the name of a plant native to the place and has a common outdoor area equipped with barbecue, wood-burning oven, tables, laundry and swimming pool at the complete disposal of guests.

Il Gelso

Il Gelso is a restructured hamlet that dates back to 1800s. Il Gelso is developed on three levels. It includes two comfortable bedrooms, one bathroom with shower, and one big open space which includes a functional kitchenette and a well equipped living room. The apartment is provided with heating, television, fireplace and all facilities needed to spend a pleasant holiday in Le Marche.

La Quercia

La Quercia was an old storehouse for the farm produce and parking area for the farm equipment. The apartment is situated on the ground level. Entering in the open plan kitchen with its fireplace one feels directly at home. Of the corridor there are three bedrooms, one double and two twins. The bathroom has a shower, washbasin, toilet and bidet. Going out the door one stands on the private terrace where one can enjoy pranzo (lunch) or cena (dinner) al fresco or use the wood burning pizza oven that is situated at the site of the house.

Il Noce

Il Noce is the other apartment in the three story house in which also Il Gelso is situated. It is situated over three levels plus a mezzanine. It has three bedrooms (one is on the soppalco) and two bathrooms with showers. It also has a well equipped kitchen with a dishwasher and microwave. The living room has a beautiful fireplace, a comfortable sofa and a television.

Il Ciliegio

Il Ciliegio is a B&B (breakfast is included) room with a double bed , a bathroom, and an independent entrance. Housed in old warehouse, the room is cozy and comfortable, tastefully furnished and equipped with independent heating, television, minibar and everything you need to spend a romantic weekend.

La Villa

La Villa is an ancient manor house that has been renovated in full respect of nature and following the eco-friendly principles. La Villa consists of five apartments, each with an independent entrance and veranda. Each bedroom has its own bathroom, the kitchens are equipped with an oven and dishwasher. La Betulla apartment is equipped to accommodate disabled people. Always respecting the environment and the well-being of our guests, all apartments have been acoustically and thermally insulated, and the energy and hot water consumed by them is produced from renewable sources within the farm. Each apartment has been assigned the name of a plant native to the place and has a private veranda with tables, mobile barbecue on request and a swimming pool at the complete disposal of guests.

L’Acacia

L’Acacia is on the ground floor and has a private covered porch. It has two comfortable bedrooms and two bathrooms with showers. The warm and well designed environment consists of a living room with satellite television and a kitchen that includes a dishwasher and an oven. The property benefits from central heating and all that is needed to enjoy a relaxing holiday with family and friends.

La Betulla

La Betulla is also located on the ground floor and i equipped with central heating, dishwasher, oven, satellite TV and all that is necessary to have a pleasant holiday. The apartment can accommodate people with disabilities.

Il Faggio

The apartment Il Faggio is located on the first floor of the Villa. It has a private terrace, a comfortable bedroom, a bathroom with shower. Furthermore, it has an open kitchen/living room. The apartment is further equipped with central heating, dishwasher, oven, satellite TV. All what is necessary to enjoy your holiday.

Il Ginepro

Il Ginepro is also located on the first floor. It has a terrace, a comfortable bedroom, a bathroom with shower. Furthermore it has open living/kitchen room. The apartment is equipped with central heating, dishwasher, oven, satellite TV. All ready and necessary to enjoy your holiday.

Il Melograno

Il Melograno is an independent cottage located within the old country house restored in 2005. The romantic apartment is situated on the ground floor and has been decorated with care and style. Il Melograno has a double bedroom and a bathroom with jacuzzi. The apartment is equipped with an oven, dishwasher, satellite television, central heating and a private veranda with table and chairs. Il Melograno provides everything necessary to spend a romantic weekend at the agriturismo.

What to do?

The Sibillini Mountains offer wonderful walking and the beaches on the Adriatic are within 30 minutes’ drive. Loreto is a fascinating town to visit and is a famous pilgrimage spot. In the medieval village of Falerone, lies the ancient settlement of Falerio Picenus, established by the Romans in 29 BC. There is a Roman amphitheatre which hosts open air performances during July. This is an excellent base for exploring the beautiful Le Marche as there are many hilltop towns and ancient Roman sites nearby such as Urbsalvia, Ascoli Piceno and Fermo. Le Marche is also great for shopping. Many of the towns have a weekly market selling local products at reasonable prices. Each town and village specialises in specific products. Porto Sant’Elpidio is renowned for handcrafting high quality, designer shoes. During the summer months there is a variety of festivals and fairs that take place in the nearby towns. Don’t miss the sagra del prosciutto (the ham festival) in the town of Offida, in August.
