What to do?

The Sibillini Mountains offer wonderful walking and the beaches on the Adriatic are within 30 minutes’ drive. Loreto is a fascinating town to visit and is a famous pilgrimage spot. In the medieval village of Falerone, lies the ancient settlement of Falerio Picenus, established by the Romans in 29 BC. There is a Roman amphitheatre which hosts open air performances during July.

Casa Cristina is an excellent base for exploring the beautiful Le Marche as there are many hilltop towns and ancient Roman sites nearby such as Urbsalvia, Ascoli Piceno and Fermo. Le Marche is also great for shopping. Many of the towns have a weekly market selling local products at reasonable prices. Each town and village specialises in specific products. Porto Sant’Elpidio is renowned for handcrafting high quality, designer shoes. During the summer months there is a variety of festivals and fairs that take place in the nearby towns. Don’t miss the sagra del prosciutto (the ham festival) in the town of Offida, in August.
