Casa Fortezza, literally the house of strength, is unlike virtually any other rental property in Le Marche. It has a most spectacular view.
The house comfortably accommodates 10 people and has been lovingly restored according to old building traditions.
It is perfect for larger groups of holiday-makers – in the past over 20 people lived their lives under this same roof – whether it be generations of an extended family holidaying together or large groups of friends or 2-3 families. The house and grounds are ample, guaranteeing that everyone has sufficient space, while being an intimate part of the larger group. It is ideally placed for exploring the area.
First, the house. Casa Fortezza is a Grand house in the old sense of the word – it’s large and solid. Built nearly 150 years ago, it’s a unique house; the thick stone walls provide a welcoming coolness in summer and reassuring warmth in winter. All the bedrooms, 5 in total (of which 3 are doubles and 2 twin bedded – but which can be combined dependent on requirements), are comfortably, appointed with antique furniture; two have attractive wooden beamed ceilings. There are 5 bathrooms (2 en suite) and 4 original fireplaces. There’s even a library/reading room, in addition to a separate TV-room. Perfect for extended families or friends who want to spread out a little. In the magnificently spacious living room there is a fireplace, a sound system and various relaxing sofas with board games to while away a few hours after spending time by the pool. There is a charming Marchigiana full size and fully fitted kitchen and dining area. A separate utility room with washing machine, hanging dryer and sink together with an additional fridge.
The Views & Grounds
Casa Fortezza enjoys what even veteran travellers to Italy call one of the most spectacular views in all of the peninsula.
Walk out of the back door and you see a breathtaking view of the Sibillini Mountains in all their grandeur with the Gran Sasso over a 100km away hiding in the clouds. Look to the north and you see the classic hilltop town of San Ginesio – On a clear day, due east, you can catch a glimpse of the Adriatic Sea. Between San Ginesio and the mountains, Casa Fortezza affords you views of a classic Italian landscape – rolling, verdant hills, and, in summer, bright fields of sunflower, vines or grain. Birds of prey circle in the sky and flocks of sheep are often grazing in the nearby fields.
The property is perfectly landscaped – a spacious lawn with a large mature garden and cherry, apple, plum, nut and fig trees surrounded by lavender and roses Plenty of room to play hide and seek. A sizeable swimming pool – 4m x 12m is set slightly away from the house with comfortable recliners and umbrellas – with a magical view of the mountains. Shade is provided by the lovely outdoor terrace with archways and a large dining table for al fresco dining. If sun is required there is a marble table to the side of the house for early morning breakfasts or lunches in full sunshine. Finally the small logiatta to the side of the house with its small table and pretty brick walls allows for a relaxed evening aperitivo.
There is an excellent broadband internet with Wifi.
