An elegantly restored 15th century country house offers visitors a unique blend of antique charm and modern style for an unforgettable stay in Italy’s Le Marche region
The historic Casale, or country home, dates back to the 15th century and lies in the rolling hills in the countryside near the medieval town of Cagli. It is half-way between Urbino and Gubbio in the northern reaches of Italy’s Le Marche region.
A full restoration was finished in 2008 and great attention has been paid to design details while keeping much of the original features. Inside, with a floor area of 350 m2, there are five bedrooms and bathrooms, each with its own sitting area and frigo bar, a huge salone, an up-to-the-minute, large kitchen, and a studio area that opens on a covered terrace with an old wood oven.
The Casale can be rented as a whole building or partially as one or more of the four apartments. Outside, the gardens are planted with lavender, rosemary and other Mediterranean plants, oak and juniper trees. The large swimming-pool (a generous seven by sixteen meters) boasts wood decking and sweeping views of the castle at Frontone and the peaks of Monte Catria.
The pool is open from 1 May until 30 September and has modern rattan sunbeds, large white square sun umbrellas, showers and a wooden solarium. Under the shade of the oaks trees is a dinner table, barbecue, and hammock, while a wooden gazebo commands the most panoramic point.
Each apartment has a wall safe and free wireless internet.
