Beautiful villa with private pool in Le Marche
L’Antica Sapienza is a beautiful villa with private pool in Le Marche. The villa is located in a serene and rural position, adjacent to the majestic Monti Sibillini National Park. However, it is not completely isolated, in fact the villa is only ten minutes from the bustling town of Tolentino and from the SS77. It is an exceptionally comfortable and welcoming stone and brick villa dating from approximately the turn of the 20th century. However, it is immaculately restored by local craftsmen using original stones and beams. The villa is suitable for families or groups of friends as next to the villa there is a small cottage perfect for two.
Beautifully designed and maintained gardens lead down from the entrance gates, past the house and pool to the hedged surroundings. There is a sun-drenched terrace on the south side furnished with a solid teak outdoor table and seating for 8 from where one overlooks the classically shaped (10 metre x 5 metre) glamorous pool. At the rear of the house is a spacious loggia (covered terrace) from which the view across the valley to the towers of Regnano and Paterno is simply stunning. When one hears the bells chiming in the distance from the other side of the valley, it is a truly memorable experience.
The grounds include flowers, fragrant hedges, a herb garden and the beginnings of an orchard. The silver-leaved branches of numerous olive trees are metres from the garden. The pool is meticulously maintained, and solid teak sun lounges, deck chairs, and umbrellas are all provided, giving the place the air of a luxury resort – albeit an extremely peaceful one!
Accommodation
Main House
sleeps 6
There is more than one entrance to L’Antica Sapienza, although the most commonly used one is adjacent to the car park. This leads into the living room with a fireplace (imported from Australia!), inviting leather couches and an entertainment unit containing a television with satellite service, DVD and sound system. Adjacent is the spacious kitchen/dining area, complete with a magnificent granite and wooden island bench containing cooktop, large oven, dishwasher, microwave together with sufficient crockery, cutlery, glassware to entertain on a grand scale. The impressive chestnut dining table was designed and made by a local artisan (along with the beds, built-in wardrobes, and other furniture) and can extend to seat up to 12 people. Also on the ground floor is a bathroom and separate laundry. The latter is fully equipped with washing machine, dryer, iron, vacuum and laundry tub.
Moving upstairs via the stunning atrium foyer there is a spacious main bedroom with soaring ceiling and imposing beams. This was actually a former schoolhouse. It now houses a magnificent hand-made double bed, a comfortable leather couch and beautiful wooden built-in wardrobes. Adjacent is a large en-suite bathroom, with a shower, bath and double basins. The second and third bedrooms each contain two single beds which can be combined to use as a double bed, bedside tables, a chair and small table. There is a full bathroom adjacent with shower and bath. All the bedrooms have glorious views over the picturesque countryside.
La Casetta
sleeps 2
The little cottage next to the main house was formerly a stable, but has been completely renovated. La Casetta, as it is called, had been set up so that it can be used completely independently from the main house. The living area has a double bed with bedside tables and reading lamps. A large wardrobe with enclosed drawers provides ample space for an extended stay. There is a very comfortable leather Natuzzi couch as well as a small table and two chairs, ideal for a relaxed breakfast. Alternatively the table and chairs can be moved easily to the terrace to allow enjoyment of an evening aperitivo. A small kitchen provides a gas cooktop, refrigerator and even a washing machine, and there is a separate shower room with vanity and toilet. Also the Casetta is centrally heated and the windows are fully screened.
